How to Specify

An Important Note to Specifiers

Level is committed to the highest legal and ethical standards in the conduct of our business, and it is our policy to compete fairly in the marketplace. This commitment to fairness includes respecting the intellectual property rights of our suppliers, customers, business partners, competitors, and others, as well as protecting our own intellectual property, specifically our creative content, from infringement by others. The Level artists who create and customize these works depend on you and the law to protect their labor and talents.

Any recreation or derivative of this design by someone other than Level is strictly prohibited and is a violation of U.S. law. All Level designs and products must be purchased through an authorized Level distributor as listed on this website.

Please help us protect our copyrighted work by not allowing Level designs to be replaced with illegal imitations. Be sure to include the Level design name and number in each specification, and avoid any allowances for “comparable products”, “derivatives”, or “suitable alternatives” wherever possible. When attaching images to a spec, use the watermarked versions found on this site or on any mockups you received during the course of a project.

Thank you!

The Basic Process

These are the basic steps in our process. We’ve spend the last 25 years perfecting this to make it as simple and effortless as possible for busy designers! Of course each project is unique and additional steps are sometimes be necessary.

Keep scrolling to see some of the steps that may be required depending on the solutions you are specifying.

Submit your job request to your Level sales rep.

Level creates a mockup of your design (including any customizations), and furnishes it with a budgetary estimate.

Review the mockup and estimate with your sales rep. Indicate any changes you’d like Level to make.

Level makes any edits and sends a strike-off (along with a revised mockup and estimate if needed) for your final approval.

Level produces the job, all goods are quality checked, and the product ships to the site with full installation instructions.

Step-by-Step Specifying

BROWSE: Browse our design library to find the design(s) and printable base material(s) that are of interest to your client.

MEASURE: Determine the dimensions and/or overall square footage of your project so that accurate budgetary pricing can be provided to you quickly. Keep in mind that Mural Designs are sized and scaled to your specifications, while Repeat Pattern Designs are scaled to repeat within the width of our most common materials. In many cases you will simply need to know the overall height and length/width of your space, and your selected design will be sized accordingly. If you have a complex installation that requires multiple sizes or custom fitting to intricate spaces, please have as much information as possible ready when you call your sales representative. In these cases, dimensioned blueprints, field measurements, drawings, or site photos (as available) may be required to properly assess and quote a job.

CALL: Call your sales representative to discuss your project and obtain budgetary pricing based on the options you’ve selected. Your sales representative is here to provide guidance and take the heavy lifting off your shoulders. Ask them to help finalize your choices and determine the right solution for your needs.

DOWNLOAD: Download images and spec sheets from this site to demonstrate your ideas to your client. Consider using these to get approvals at this stage, instead of requesting complete custom renderings from Level. Our experience shows that, because so much can change during a project, customizing at this point can potentially be inefficient, spending your valuable time and billable hours needlessly.

PRESENT: Present these rough concepts and budgetary pricing to your client for approval. If any of the details need to be fine-tuned, this is the time to do so, but be sure to request updated pricing!

ORDER: Review these tools with your client. Once approved you’re ready to submit your order!

WRITE: Write the Level design, materials selections, and any custom options into your spec to lock them in. Avoid any allowances for “comparable products”, “derivatives”, or “suitable alternatives” wherever possible. Be sure to include:
Level Design Name & Color
Level Design Number
Level Base Material & Emboss Name (if applicable)
WallMax Protective Laminate (if applicable)
Any Pop Gloss, WallFX, or Metallic Effects
All Level Images Include the Level Watermark

REQUEST: Request any custom changes from Level once all the job specifics are approved by the end client. Level will create your custom design and provide you with complete custom renderings and other tools for final approval.
